Fellows
NPV Fellows
A one-year fellowship for those who want to see how nuclear companies are built.
ApplyApplications open October 12, 2026.
What this is
Neutron Power Ventures invests in nuclear power companies. Evaluating them requires expertise no single investor has: fuel cycle, materials, thermal hydraulics, licensing, grid integration, and more.
NPV Fellows is a small cohort of students, postdocs, and researchers who bring that expertise. When we're evaluating a company, we send the materials to the fellows whose specialties fit and ask one question: what would you want to know before you wrote the check?
What you'll do
- Review live deals in your specialty and write a one-page technical memo. Usually a few fellows look at the same company from different angles, and we compare notes.
- Join a monthly cohort call: one deal debrief, one guest from the industry.
- Occasionally help a portfolio company with a specific technical question.
- About 10 hours a month on average. Some months are 2, some are 20. It follows deal flow.
What you'll get
- Cash stipend.
- A real look at how early-stage nuclear investing works, including the parts that don't make it into press releases.
- A portfolio of diligence memos you can point to.
- The NPV network: founders, advisors, LPs, and the other fellows.
- The title. Put it on your CV.
Who should apply
You're a student, postdoc, or researcher. You have a specialty that matters for evaluating nuclear companies. You have opinions, and you can defend them. You find at least one of the questions below fun.
You don't need venture experience. You do need to be able to read a technical claim and tell us whether it holds up.
How it works

Questions
Can I apply if I'm outside the US?
Yes. Some deal materials are restricted by export-control rules, so access may vary by deal. We'll be clear about that with finalists.
I work at a national lab / reactor company / utility. Can I apply?
Probably, but tell us. The conflicts section exists for exactly this.
Will this conflict with my program?
Check your institution's outside-activity policy. Most permit this; some require disclosure.
Can I do this while starting a company?
Yes, and we'd like to hear about it.
